1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion

Welcome to the St. Joseph Parish Faith Formation Process for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion.

The beautiful child you brought into the world, named and carried to the Church for baptism, is now ready to take another step in his or her sacramental life. They have reached the time to begin the preparation for their First Holy Communion.

The Archdiocesan Guidelines require a consecutive two (2) year process to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion.  This process begins when you enroll your child/youth in the Religious Education Program (1st Grade and above.)  The first year of study helps the children/youth develop a deeper personal knowledge of Jesus.  They learn that Jesus teaches us about God’s love for us and how we can respond to that love.  The second year of the process continues these themes and provides the children/youth with a growing sense of their Catholic identity.

Class Schedule for Faith Formation Students

Faith Formation (Religious Education) is for children who do not attend Catholic School. The classes normally start when they are in 1st or 2nd grade.  Because it is a two-year program, we refer to the years as Year I Sacrament Preparation and Year 2 Sacrament Preparation, regardless of what grade they begin the sessions.

Our classes are on Sunday mornings from 10 – 11:15 am.

Catholic School children will be attending classes for Sacrament preparation during the regular school day.
