Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick

EucharisticSick

Inspiration: I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never be hungry. He who believes in me will never thirst. Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day. (John 6:13,54)

If any one of you is in trouble he should pray; If anyone is happy he should praise God. If anyone is ill he should send for the elders of the church and they must anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him. (James 5:14)

Our Mission: As ministers of the Holy Eucharist to the home-bound, we are to bring Jesus to the person through love, Eucharist, Scripture, prayer, and emotional and spiritual support. We remind them that they are part of the St. Joseph community and lots of people are praying for them.

Our Members: Our members are adult parishioners who have discerned Jesus call in their heart to visit the home-bound (any age), to bring them comfort, compassion and healing, through reception of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

We have six ministers working in our parish. Training is provided by Nancy Miller at the parish and by attending workshops sponsored by the diocese.

Expenses: None except automobile, gas.

Meetings: Seldom

Activities: Accepting the responsibility of visiting assigned persons once a week. Time to be arranged by the minister and the homebound person.
