Grace Passes: Confirmation candidates are required to attend all workshops. However, there are times when illness, family, or other obligations can prevent a Candidate from attending a scheduled activity.  Therefore, each Candidate will be given 3 Grace Passes to be used during the year.  To use this pass, a parent must call or email Liz Moreno before the event.  Once a student uses 3 passes, it is expected that he/she will be at every scheduled activity. Grace passes may not be used consecutively. Grace passes may not be used for mandated retreats. Please see calendar above for retreat dates.

SERVICE HOURS:  Each Confirmation candidate must complete 20 hours of service work per year. Service Hour Sheets must be completed and turned in no later than April 15, 2024.

CONFIRMATION 1 & 2 RETREAT: Sunday, October 15, 2023. This retreat is mandatory.

CONFIRMATION 1 & 2 RETREAT: February 2 – 4, 2024. This retreat is mandatory.

YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAM:  Each year, Confirmation Candidates will be expected to attend at least one Youth Ministry Night (Wednesday Youth Night) per month.

CONFIRMATION 2 INTERVIEW: End of April and early May 2024. An email will be sent in early April 2024 to set up your time.

Interviews are held at the end of the 2nd year process to make sure all requirements are completed.   This is also a time for you to evaluate the process to make it more meaningful for future students and sponsors.  We want to know what helped you in your journey and what didn’t, and how you might fix it!

PARENTS – We would like your final recommendation regarding the seriousness of intent of your son/daughter’s Confirmation commitment.   We would also like to have your evaluation of the process.   Did we help your family grow in understanding of the Catholic faith and traditions?  How could it be better for future families?

SPONSORS – We need to hear you at the end of the process to get your final recommendation for Confirmation for this candidate.

The purpose of the interview is to give us a chance to see if there is a “missing link” or two that we can help fill in before the young person is confirmed.  The interview is not a test or a pop-quiz.  It is a conversation.

VIRTUS REQUIREMENT: All parents are highly encouraged to complete the VIRTUS training program (child protection and safety). VIRTUS is a three-hour in-person training held throughout the year at St. Joseph Parish and other parishes in the Archdiocese. You can find out more about VIRTUS and register for training on the VIRTUS website: www.virtus.org.
