Sacrament of Baptism for children over 7 years old

Rite of Christian Initiation for Children

The Sacrament of Baptism (for Children Not Baptized as Infants)  

Children over age 7 who have not been baptized  participate in a special process of Christian Initiation for Children over age 7.  With the involvement of their parents/guardians, they will be prepared to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion.  Contact the Parish Office for details on this process –  562-598-0519.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession)

To receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) for the first time:

The child must be baptized, and the parents must present a copy of the baptismal certificate to the office of Religious Education.  
The child must have completed at least two (2) consecutive years of faith formation.
The parents/guardians must be involved in the faith formation process.

The Sacrament of Eucharist (First Communion)

To receive the Sacrament of Eucharist (Communion) for the first time:

The child must be baptized and the parents must present a copy of the baptismal certificate to the office of Religious Education.
The child must have completed at least two (2) consecutive years of faith formation.
The child is prepared for and receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.
The parents/guardians must be involved in the faith formation process.
