Reflection on John 16:12-15

Dear Parishioners,

Today’s Gospel reminds me of some stories from my childhood. Please, allow me to share with you of one of them. As some of you know, my mother was a single mother, for this reason, my grandparents raised me. My mother was always working and I only met her once or twice a month. It was really hard and painful for me as a kid to understand why my family was “different” from my classmates in the school. I remember that many times in my prayers I asked God the reason why my father was not with us.

In other words, my whole story at that time did not make sense, yet God flows through the course of our lives and will slowly reveal to us and help us to understand that He is under control of our life and has a wonderful plan for us. “But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you to all truth.” Very soon we are going to celebrate the feast of Pentecost. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to help us to trust more in God plans.

In Christ,
Cesar Carrasco
