Dear St. Joseph Family:
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. In the Gospel of Luke, we heard that the angel Gabriel announced to the Blessed Virgin Mary that she will be the Mother of the Son of God. The angel told God’s Plan to our Blessed Mother. Mary answered: “How can this be?” In her response, we can discover the human part in all of us, why me? How can this happen? Nevertheless, the angel said to her: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” In this moment of depth, vulnerability, pain, suffering or anxiety take a moment of silence and bring these words from the angel to your heart and do not be afraid. Remember that: “God does not abandon us. Jesus continues to walk with us: through persecution, plagues, and pestilence, and now a pandemic.” (Archbishop Jose H. Gomez).
If anybody is going through a difficult time right now, I pray for all of you to look to God for the strength to go through it, and to listen to God. It is at this time that we have to call for courage, kindness and faith. All these things are born not when life is easy, but are born when we have to go through the Cross. Remember that there is no Easter Sunday without Good Friday.
Remember that all of you are missed here at St. Joseph and I hope we can see you soon in this beautiful parish.
