Feast of the Queenship of Mary

Dear Parish Family:

Today, August 21, is the Feast of the Queenship of Mary. Pope Pius XII established this Feast in 1954. Mary’s Queenship has roots in scripture and for centuries numerous titles have been attributed to our Blessed Mother. In the fourth century, St. Ephrem called Mary , “Lady “and “Queen”. The last litany of the rosary we honor her who was crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth. Pope Pius states that Mary deserves the title because she is Mother of God, because she is closely associated with her son, Jesus’s redemptive work, because of her preeminent perfection and because of her intercessory power. Turn to the Queen of Heaven today for your personal intersessions and let us pray that she will intercede to our Lord to bring an end to this global pandemic.

Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Pray for us!

Have a blessed weekend,

Msgr. Kevin
