As an employee and Part-Time Bookkeeper at St. Joseph, your responsibilities include monthly bank reconciliations, vendor invoice processing, payroll, receivables collection, monthly financial statements, annual budget preparation, attending Parish Finance Council meetings, serving as the financial liaison to the Archdiocese, employee benefits, and adhering to Archdiocesan policies.

A working knowledge of QuickBooks and previous accounting/bookkeeping experience is essential.

BOOKKEEPER POSITION ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH

      (Salary Range $23-$30 per hour based on experience)  

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining the general ledgers for the parish.
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Reviewing and preparing vendor invoices for payment.
  • Processing payroll with TCM/ADP service provider.
  • Monitoring and assisting in collection of outstanding receivables.
  • Preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements and reporting to the Archdiocese.
  • Assisting in preparation and update of annual budgets.
  • Serving as a member of Parish Finance Council.
  • Serving as a parish contact with financial institutions and the Archdiocese.
  • Maintaining an accurate filing, recordkeeping, and reporting system for parish financial matters.
  • Administering benefit programs for parish employees.
  • Understanding and maintaining Archdiocesan policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performing other work-related duties as requested.
  • Conforming to Archdiocese fingerprinting and Virtus Training requirements.

Education and experience:

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of accounting, budgets and basic HR related laws.
  • Minimum two years previous bookkeeping/accounting experience.
  • Some college coursework or certificate in finance, accounting or related discipline preferred.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of accounting HR and payroll policies, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (QuickBooks, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to work well with others, to prioritize multiple demands, work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds and sit for sustained periods of time.
  • Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping and walking.
  • Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands or arms.
